Job Purpose:
A Business Development Manager works to improve an organizations market position and achieve financial growth. This person defines long-term organizational strategic goals, builds key customer relationships, identifies business opportunities, negotiates and closes business deals and maintains extensive knowledge of current market conditions. Business Development Managers work in a senior sales position within the company. It is their job to work with the internal team, marketing staff, and other managers to increase sales opportunities and thereby maximize revenue for their organization. To achieve this, they need to find potential new customers, present to them, ultimately convert them into clients, and continue to grow business in the future. Business Development Managers will also help manage existing clients and ensure they stay satisfied and positive.
Job Description:
New Business Development
1. Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.
2. Research and build relationships with new clients.
3. Set up meetings between client decision makers and companys practice leaders/Principals.
4. Work with team to develop proposals that speaks to the clients needs, concerns, and objectives.
Participate in Pricing and Contract Negotiation
5. Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations.
6. Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements and working through differences to a positive conclusion.
Client Retention
7. Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships.
8. Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.
9. Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs.
Business Development Planning
10. Attend industry functions, such as expos, related events and publications, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends and trendsetter ideas .
11. Present to and consult with senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and distribution channels.
12. Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the companys unique selling propositions and differentiators.
Management and Research
13. Submit progress reports and ensure data is accurate.
14. Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within the companys CRM or other sales management system.
15. Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met by the marketing staff.
16. Present business development training and mentoring to business developers and other internal staff.
17. Understand the companys goal and purpose so that will continual to enhance the companys performance.
18. Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
19. Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
